Welcome to Austerlitz Climate Action!

It is with humility and reverence that the Austerlitz Climate Committee acknowledges the original stewards of this land, the Mahican people on whose territory we live.  An Algonquian-speaking tribe, the Mahican people identified by the place where they lived, which they called Muh-he-ka-neew (meaning “people of the continually flowing waters.”) To honor this land, we must honor the crucial role indigenous knowledge plays in recovering a reciprocal relationship with the earth.
